4-H Beef

4-H Beef Project

The 4-H Beef program, along with related activities such as workshops and tours, offers youth a fun and hands-on learning experience. This program helps develop both beef-related skills (such as nutrition, housing, and healthcare) and valuable life skills (such as responsibility, decision-making, nurturing, and communication). Youth learn these skills under the guidance of caring adults.

Beef at the Fair!

Each 4-H member is required to show their own animal, with an adult or older teen present to provide assistance if needed. The Gouverneur-St. Lawrence County Fair Board mandates rabies vaccinations for all animals.

  • Lease Beef Cattle Identification Form must be submitted to the 4-H office by June 15th.
  • Animal Entry Deadline: July 1, 2025
  • Entry Requirements: Any recognized beef breed may be entered, including both purebred and grade animals.
  • Restrictions: No bulls will be allowed in the Junior Fair Classes. Cloverbud exhibitors are limited to calf classes only. All Cloverbud exhibitors will receive a participation ribbon.
  • Assistance: An adult or older teen must be in close proximity to provide assistance if needed during the event.
