4-H Program Educator

Looking for a part-time 4-H Program Educator to provide comprehensive 4-H youth development opportunities for youth in grades K-12 for the Afterschool Program and other 4-H programs and activities as assigned.This position will provide established guidance and direction for program participants and after-school activities, including club and life skills, as well as assisting youth during the academic study portion of the program.This position will provide instruction utilizing established 4-H curriculum in the areas of agriculture, environmental science and natural resources, science, technology engineering, and math (STEM).

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and 1 year transferrable/program experience).
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks).
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (After-School Checks – Grant Based).
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Eat Smart New York (ESNY) Nutrition Assistant (Posting coming soon)

The ESNY Nutrition Assistant position will implement public education to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among limited resource families and individuals encompassing all age groups in various locations throughout the North Country Region.Under the direction of the Team Lead and ESNY Senior Nutritionist, the educator will teach nutrition education with a focus on general nutrition, food preparation, food safety and food budgeting to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligible or SNAP recipients via workshops, events, or food demonstrations.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Associate’s Degree in Nutrition, Health Education or Public Health with one year volunteer or work related experience or high school diploma or equivalency with two years volunteer or work related experience.
  • Ability to read and write in English.
  • Ability to present effective and relevant educational lessons to target audiences and work with diverse audiences of all ages.
  • Basic computer and word processing skills.
  • Ability to carry supplies and equipment, climb stairs.
  • Must be comfortable purchasing and preparing foods and reviewing and following recipes.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check and motor vehicle check standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
