Request for Proposal
Notice is hereby given Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County (Extension) will be accepting competitive sealed bids for the agricultural lease of 47 acres of land located at 1894 State Highway 68, Canton, NY 13617. Proposals should include an annual per acre rental rate, a brief description of the proposed agricultural practices to be conducted on the property, name, address, signature of the bidder, and date. Bids will be accepted until Friday, April 30, 2024, at 12:00 P.M at Extension’s Administration Office, located at 2043B State Highway 68, Canton, NY 13617 and shall be opened after that time by the Board President. Only sealed bids will be considered. Proposals received after 12:00 P.M. will not be considered.

Preservations of Rights:
It is the intent of Extension to award this lease to the highest bidder who proposes effective agricultural practices that improve and protect the property’s soil health. Extension reserves the right to reject any/or all proposals and waive all minor technicalities, informalities, and irregularities. Extension reserves the right to accept the proposal, which in the judgment of Extension, is in its best interest.

Proposed Duration/Term
One year lease, renewable for up to five years.
Invoicing /Payment
Annual rent shall be paid within thirty (30) days of receipt of an Extension invoice.
Insurance Coverage
Renter shall provide a Certificate of Insurance with Extension as the certificate holder and Additional Insured including a Waiver of Subrogation in favor of Extension, showing evidence of the following minimum limits of insurance, or as required by law, whichever is greater.
Hold Harmless
The Renter, to the fullest extent permitted by law, shall indemnify and hold harmless Extension, their employees, volunteers, agents, Directors and officers and Cornell University from and against any and all actual alleged claims, suits of demands of any kind and nature whatsoever that result from injury or illness to any person or persons, including death, or damage to property arising out of any act or omission of the Renter, its employees, volunteers, participants, or agents and arising out of its use and occupancy of the premises indicated above.
