Cassondra “Casey” Caswell serves as the 4-H and Community Health Issue Leader, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) Program Manager for the North Country, and Association Director of Operations at Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County.
Casey focuses on aligning community programs, events, and resources to enhance the well-being of community members in St. Lawrence County. In her leadership role, she oversees a dedicated team responsible for a wide range of dynamic youth and family programming. This includes after-school activities, summer camps, 4-H clubs, 4-H county fair coordination, youth animal programs, and health and wellness programs for all ages. The community health programs focus on enhancing education, the economy, health, and wellness in St. Lawrence County by organizing community programs, events, and resources to enhance the well-being of North Country communities and residents. Health and wellness programing includes nutrition education, Jr. Iron Chef, the North Country Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program. These programs are designed to promote individual behavior changes of healthy habits, as well as to bolster local farmers, retain food expenditures within the community, and champion nutritional security initiatives. She also supervises the execution and administration of community endeavors across the North Country Region through St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Franklin, Clinton, and Essex Counties and Akwesasne through the SNAP-Ed program.
Cassondra has been with Cornell Cooperative Extension since 2007 growing through various positions starting with summer employment as a SLC 4-H Day Camp counselor, and full-time positions since 2014 years as a 4-H/ Nutrition Community Educator, 4-H Youth and Family Team Leader, and currently as Health and Nutrition Team Leader and North Country SNAP-Ed Regional Project Manager. She graduated with a Bachelor’s from Cazenovia College and a Master’s from SUNY Potsdam in Organizational Performance and Leadership. She is actively serving on boards for GardenShare, St. Lawrence Leadership Institute, SLC People Project, and SLC Bridges to Wellness Coalition. She resides in St. Lawrence County with her two puppies and enjoys as much time as possible in the sun running, biking, hiking, and kayaking.
