The Gift of Strawberries

Workshop Description:

Let’s celebrate the first fruit of the season: strawberries! We can marvel at this juicy berry and the many food traditions that have woven this hardy fruit into their cuisine. The plant is native to North America, and we hope to inspire a greater connection to our environment and encourage an appreciation for all generous gifts the Earth provides us.

This class includes fresh and baked recipes, such as a strawberry crumb cake.

This workshop is part of the Celebrating Spring Foods series which consists of 3 cooking classes from May through June 2023. The Celebrating Spring Foods workshop series is dedicated to sharing timely information in a hands-on, accessible format, including support materials for participants to use at home.

Participants can register for as many workshops as they like in the series, each of which requires a separate registration. Class size is capped at 12 to allow for hands-on opportunities. Payment must be received before the start of each workshop.

Celebrating Spring Foods Workshop Instructor

Douglas Callegario is a culinary artist and educator born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds a degree in Gastronomy from the University of Rio and has worked in many food roles including as a cook, summer camp culinary teacher, organic farmer, and owner of a baking business. Douglas loves natural foods and is excited to connect with folks about seasonal North Country produce and cooking.
