Might we be seeing Asian Hornets in New York? Not likely at this time, but we appreciate the public helping keep a watchful eye out for pests that haven’t been seen in our area.
Most often the large hornets people are seeing in New York are European Hornets.
The easiest way to tell the difference between the two species - the stripes on an European Hornets abdomen look like an upside down crown while the stripes on an Asian Hornet are a solid band.
