Efficient use of energy for heating, cooling, and power can make a big difference on your utility bills. Often, little or no cost changes like weatherstripping doors or reducing the thermostat setting can go a long way. But beyond saving money, home efficiency improvements have considerable potential for reducing the carbon footprint of a community. According to the most recent greenhouse gas inventory, residential energy use accounted for roughly 19% of St. Lawrence County's greenhouse gas emissions, only a few percentage points shy of the estimated emissions for all vehicle travel.
