Farm Business Management Specialist

POSITION DETAILS:

This position is a full-time, exempt position - 100% FTE. The annual salary for this position is $65,000 to $75,000 commensurate with experience. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Function as part of the Tri-County Regional Ag Team
• Provide technical assistance to farms and food businesses in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, and Lewis counties
• Provide leadership in the planning, development, management, and implementation of the farm business management programs, technical assistance, and research across the region
• Provide business planning and development for businesses that have emphases in production agriculture
• Provide support for farm-based, start-up businesses including the development of value-added opportunities for producers
• Provide technical assistance in farm labor management and agricultural workforce development
• Lead and facilitate the extension of research findings from Cornell University, other land grant universities and agribusinesses

CCE St. Lawrence County, 2043B State Highway 68, Canton, NY

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree
• Two (2) years volunteer or related work experience
• Valid NYS Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
• Ability to meet acceptable background check standards (DMV and criminal background checks)
• Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate
