Celebrate early local greens with a lively, group preservation project!
In this session Master Food Preserver volunteer Jan DeWaters will share her spring tradition of making a pesto with ramps also known as wild leeks.
Each participant will work in a small group to make a batch of pesto. Everyone will be able to bring home a jar to enjoy along with the recipe. There will be ample time for questions and the preservers will share some of their other favorite herb combination for pesto along with tips for wild leek harvest.
Wild leeks are native to North America and grow in the under story of lowland hardwood forests. The leeks for this workshop will have been harvested beforehand at a Canton patch.
