What is Farm Day Camp?
Good question! We are a day camp that takes arts and crafts, animal science, outdoor education, agriculture, team building, and many more types of activities and puts them together to sculpt a fun, educational, hands-on day for campers 5 to 12 years old!
When do you offer the program?
We run 8:00AM to 4:30PM Monday to Friday
How old do the campers need to be?
We offer the program for youth 5-12 years old. Campers must turn 5 before the first day they attend the camp.
How do I register my child(ren) for camp?
All of our registration is done on UltraCamp. You will need to make an account on this website to enroll your child(ren). The registration process typically takes between 15-30 minutes. All forms during registration need to be filled out by the start of camp! A non-refundable deposit of $25 per child per session is required upon completing registration. Enrolling 2 children in 3 weeks of camp each would require $150 at the end of the registration process, for example.
How are the campers grouped and what is the ratio of staff to campers?
We group the campers by age in groups of up to 12 campers. We maintain a ratio of 1 staff to 12 campers. With our counselors and other specialty staff, we are able to often maintain an even smaller ratio for most of the day!
Are lunch and snacks provided?
We do not provide lunch. We ask that you pack a healthy lunch for your child(ren), with an ice pack to keep it cool during the day. Please keep your lunches peanut/tree-nut free! We do provide a morning and afternoon snack daily. For a morning snack, we will typically offer some fruit or a granola bar. For afternoon snack, we will typically offer something from one of the gardens (i.e. salad, different vegetables, or fruits). We will also have some kind of ice pop for the campers at least once a week.
How much time will the campers get to spend with the animals?
Each day the campers will do morning and evening chores, and that will either be working with the animals in the gardens or helping with cleaning up around camp. Every week all the campers will get the opportunity to work with all of the animals. There will be some weeks where we will have special educators or volunteers that will come in and do special projects with the animals.
Do I need to have a physician sign my camp health form?
You need to have a physician’s signature on your health form only if your child has an Epi-pen or inhaler, and/or is prescribed any medication. We do not administer any medication at Farm Day Camp. We ask that all health forms are uploaded to your UltraCamp account, faxed to our office, or emailed to Gabe Craig (gdc74@cornell.edu) 30 days prior to the start of camp. Our health form can be found in the document center of your UltraCamp account.
What is Camp’s cancellation policy?
Deposits are non-refundable. Refunds for the balance of the camp fee are made only for cancellations received in writing at least three weeks prior to the opening day of the camp session. A refund will be granted in cases of serious illness or injury, and this request must be accompanied by a physician’s note. A camper who does not arrive, arrives late, leaves early or attends only a part of the session will not receive a refund. If a camper is experiencing a difficult adjustment to camp or is sent home because of a behavior problem, no refund will be granted.
