Extension 4-H After School Program Employment

Love working with kids? Looking for flexible, part time hours and a competitive wage? Working with our 4-H Before & After School program might be what you are looking for! 

We're hiring 4-H Afterschool Educators at multiple sites across St. Lawrence County! Help create engaging afterschool experiences for students in grades K–8 through homework assistance and academic support, outdoor recreation and active play, and hands-on 4-H enrichment activities, including cooking, robotics, gardening, healthy living, and more!

Extension 4-H After School Program

Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County provides enrichment programming to students in grades K-8 at the following schools:

  • Edwards-Knox Central School 
  • Colton-Pierrepont Central School 
  • Hermon-Dekalb Central School
  • Parishville-Hopkinton Central School
  • North Wind Afterschool at CCE Extension Learning Farm Canton (ages 5-12)

Programming will provide homework help, academic support, a snack, outdoor time and enrichment activities such as cooking, STEM, healthy living, and much more.

The 4-H After School Programs are managed by Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County and licensed by the St. Lawrence County Child Care Council. Each program will operate Monday-Friday on days when school is in session, as well as some school breaks. 10-month positions.

ABOUT THE POSITIONS:

Our educators provide homework help and use 4-H curriculum to actively engage students in hands-on, experiential learning so kids can "learn while doing."

Site Directors: Up to 30 hours per week 

Site Supervisors, Educators and Assistant Educators: Up to 17.5- 20 hours per week.

*Exact hours vary based on location (see above for schools served).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educators, site supervisors, and site directors must by 18+ years old 
  • Assistant Educators must be 16+ years old
  • Must pass the OCFS background check required by our regulatory agency
  • 1+ years of child care experience-volunteer or paid (2+ years for Site Directors and Site Supervisors)
  • Site Directors and Site Supervisors must have supervisory experience
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Responsible, punctual & reliable
  • Associate degree or above in Child Development, Education, Recreation or related field (for Site Directors and Site Supervisors only)
  • High School Diploma/GED for Educators

 Programming is offered Monday-Friday on the dates that the school is in session. We offer paid training, CPR and First Aid classes, competitive wages, and flexible hours. 

Not 18 years old yet? Assistant Teachers with 1 year or more of childcare experience (paid or volunteer experience) can start working in our programs at 16 years of age.
