Maple Production (March - April)

Experience the sugar bush, and learn about the history and science behind this North Country tradition.

Grades K- 6

  • Objectives: Learn about the process of making maple syrup and local maple production
  • Hands-on Activity: Use a refractometer to measure the sugar content and learn about factors that effect sugar concentration in sap. Read tree pressure gauges to learn about tree vacuum and what make sap "run." Enjoy a sweet treat.
  • On-Site Activity: Tour the CCE maple bush and sugar shack
