Meaghan and Maureen Pierce have been selected to go to Kentucky for National 4-H Horse Competitions to represent NYS! Please consider a donation to assist with their endeavors.

Hello,

We are two sisters from Heuvelton, NY and we have been lucky enough to have been selected to go to Kentucky for national 4-H horse competitions to represent NYS.

Meaghan is going to compete in the Hippology contest. Hippology means the study of the horse, so in this contest, you have to be able to do a variety of tasks. There are four components in the competition: horse judging, a multiple choice test, various identification tasks, and a team presentation. Meaghan placed high enough to be selected to be on the NY state at the national competition.

Maureen competed in the Horse Communications contest. This requires you to write a speech about any topic of your choosing, as long as it is related to horses. Then you present your speech with visual aids to a panel of judges. Her topic was “A Ride through History’s Greatest Jockeys.” She will present as the NYS presenter in Kentucky.

We need your help in raising funds to go on the trip since the cost is relatively high. We appreciate any support we get, and we know that you all are pulling for us to do well in Kentucky. If you would like to donate to help us pay for the trip, please send your gift to the Cooperative Extension Office in Canton, NY.

We will be doing a fundraiser spaghetti dinner soon, so stay tuned for more information if you would like to come eat and meet us to learn more about the trip!
