Fun with Fermentation: Winter Veggies!

Many vegetables that grew in the summer sunshine of 2018 are still available deep into the winter. These hardy vegetables are preserved in cold storage to eat in the non-growing season of the North Country. Fermentation is a nutritious way to safely preserve the bountiful harvest. In winter, it's also a great way to expand our diets and create new flavor combinations with storage crops such as carrot, cabbage, radish and beet. The Harvest Kitchen at the Extension Learning Farm is hosting a hands-on workshop for participants to learn more about this delicious preservation method. A great source for these locally grown vegetables is the Potsdam Food Co-op, who generously donated produce for this workshop.

Course fee is $20 which includes hands-on opportunity, recipes, samples and take home product. Space is limited, pre-register at link:
