Jon Greenwood and Rick Zimmerman are Recognized


NYS Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball and PRO-DAIRY Director Thomas Overton presented the PRO-DAIRY Agriservice Awards toJon Greenwood, Greenwood Dairy, Canton and Rick Zimmerman, Executive Director, Northeast Agribusiness and Feed Alliance, Albany during Dairy Day at the NYS Fair on Monday, August 29. These awards are given in appreciation and recognition of outstanding contributions to NYS agriculture through support of the PRO-DAIRY program.

“Both Jon and Rick have been excellent supporters of PRO-DAIRY programs and tremendous leaders within the New York dairy industry. Jon is an active collaborator on applied research and through his co-leadership of the Northern NY Agricultural Development Program has been a staunch ally to applied research and extension. Rick is a longstanding partner for PRO-DAIRY programs and has worked to enhance these programs through his role as Executive Director of the Northeast Agribusiness and Feed Alliance, and more recent efforts to make on-farm renewable energy strategies more achievable for our New York farms.,” Dr. Overton said.

Jon Greenwood is a long-time and valuable collaborator with PRO-DAIRY and has been exceptionally involved in the dairy industry at the local, regional and statewide level. His strong and steady support for applied research and Extension programs has been critical to ensure that industry-relevant work is done for the benefit of the dairy industry. Greenwood’s leadership and support of issues ranging from the environment, to cropping systems, to business management is invaluable.

The New York dairy industry is recognized for its high caliber allied industry professionals and supporters and their work to ensure that the best people and programs are in place at Cornell and other state institutions. Zimmerman is appreciated for his tireless efforts to support and enhance the PRO-DAIRY program, and for his leadership of Northeast Agribusiness and Feed Alliance, which in partnership with PRO-DAIRY, have established excellent and sustaining collaborative programs.
