Free Hand Sanitizer and Masks for St. Lawrence County Ag Producers

Cornell Cooperative Extension of St. Lawrence County has secured a second allotment of hand sanitizer and face coverings from New York State Agriculture and Markets to distribute free of cost to the County’s farmers.

These critical supplies are intended to make the work environments of producers safer. Eligibility includes businesses that produce food products including crops, livestock, dairy, vegetables, fruits, craft beverages, packing house facilities, farm employee housing and nurseries. To access the personal protective equipment, every business must complete the brief sign-up form found at this link.

Priority will be given to farms who were not served during the first round, but all eligible producers are encouraged to sign-up if additional product is needed. After completing the form, Extension will pack the order, then contact the producer to arrange pickup at the Extension Learning Farm at 2043B State Highway 68 in Canton.

In the first round of distribution, there was high demand with 102 farms served, for a total of 778 gallons of hand sanitizer, 2,074 two ounce bottles of hand sanitizer and 2,955 masks provided.

“Extension exists to support our agricultural and food producers. If this program keeps them and their employees healthy, we are glad to do it,” said Patrick Ames, Executive Director
