Brighten your day by enjoying fruit and good company at this hand-on workshop Saturday, June 13th, 1-3pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Gouverneur.
The group will learn about the chemistry of fruit and its relationship to pectin, by making a fruit jam with commercial pectin as well as a full fruit jam with no added pectin. After the jam making, participants will experience how to safely preserve their jam using water bath canning. Every class participant will work in a small group to make the jam, as well as take home a jar and recipe resources. The workshop includes background information about food safety.
The class is led by Harvest Kitchen Manager Flip Filippi, along with Master Food Preserver volunteers.
Registration directly through the church by calling Miki at 315-430-9393. The cost for this workshop is free but space is limited and registration is required to reserve your spot. The kitchen is handicap accessible.
For questions about workshop content, contact Flip at 315-379-9192, ext. 229.
