Pressure Canning Meat: Hands-on Workshop

  • Friday, March 6, 2026, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Whether you are simply considering pressure canning or have previous experience, this hands-on workshop will include a chance for all levels and skills of learners. 

Workshop includes:

  • Opportunity to take part in canning process start to finish, using locally raised beef
  • Each participant bringing home a jar of ffinished product
  • Background information on why and how pressure canning works
    • Techniques that can also be applied to vegetables, beans and fish
  • Examples of four different models of pressure canners
  • Handouts and recipes
  • Ample time for questions

Taught by Local Food Program Leader, M. Flip Filippi with participation from Master Food Preserver Volunteers.

Workshop is part of Extension's Homesteading for Everyone Series. Session is held in person at the Harvest Kitchen at the Extension Learning Farm.
