Collecting and Saving Seed from Native Plants

  • Monday, September 29, 2025, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM

In this hands-on workshop, local biologist and avid seed saver Mary-Ann Cateforis will show you how to collect, sift, winnow, package, and label seeds. Participants are welcomed to bring their own seed, but there will be PLENTY to share from the CCE pollinator garden and Mary-Ann’s own supply.

Seeds we will work with in the class and prepare for storage include Black-eyed Susan, Cardinal Flower, Swamp Milkweed, Blanket Flower, Joe Pye Weed, Blue-Eyed Grass, Wild Columbine, and False Indigo.

These are all for participants to clean, package and take home!

Come take part in this ancient practice with fellow native plant enthusiasts.
