Reducing Waste with Food Preservation

  • Tuesday, September 16, 2025, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

NEW OFFERING!

This course is a fun collection of ideas from seasoned food preservation folks on how to reduce food waste using methods such as freezing, dehydration, and fermentation. The session will comprise a panel of Master Preserver Volunteers with the conversation facilitated by Flip Filippi, the Local Foods Program Leader and Harvest Kitchen Manager.

Afterwards we'll venture into the kitchen to enjoy a demonstration of a couple of these techniques. There will be ample time for questions and participant contributions. The session will take place at the Extension Learning Farm partly in the Front Classroom and then in the adjacent Harvest Kitchen.

Participants will:

  • Hear a range of techniques from Master Food Preserver volunteers

  • Sample preserved foods
  • Bring home a summary handout along with recipes and resources
