Spring Wild Plant Tasting Tour

  • Tuesday, May 20, 2025, 10:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Pat Banker of CCE in Franklin County is a community educator and life-long wild plant forager. She is a Wild Edibles Instructor, a Certified Master Food Preservation Instructor, and 4H Youth Program Educator.

In this hands-on "tasting tour", Pat will lead participants on a walk to find edible spring greens on the Extension Learning Farm grounds. The group will identify and learn about historic and current uses of wild plants. The workshop will culminate with the group bringing the results of their ‘free-range shopping' to the Harvest Kitchen to prepare them for lunch.

In the fall, Pat led a roots-focused tasting tour in which Master Gardener Volunteers made a meal of wild stir fry, roasted dandelion root tea, sunchoke fries and white pine cookies. The event was a hit and we're happy to open it up to the public this time around.
