Workshop Description:
Spice up your life with ingredients from your garden or farmer’s market with flavorful hot sauces. Master Food Preserver and Master Gardener volunteers will demonstrate how to create multiple hot sauce recipes using hot peppers, tomatoes, and more! The recipes covered will include examples of raw freshly blended sauces as well as cooked sauces, each of which offers unique flavor profiles. In hands-on learning, participants will make one recipe and can bring home a jar of their product. The class will cover fermentation, freezing, and water bath canning methods. These volunteer groups receive intensive training from Extension on various growing and preservation methods and then share this information with the community through workshops and 1-1 support. Class size is limited, register below to reserve your spot.
This workshop is part of the Grow and Preserve series which consists of paired workshops on cultivating food plants and then preserving the harvest from May through October 2023. The Grow and Preserve workshop series is dedicated to sharing timely information in a hands-on, accessible format, including support materials for participants to use at home.
Sliding scale $10-40; pay what you can afford.
