About the USDA Hardiness Zones

The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is a valuable agricultural and horticultural reference. Often we are asked by PLANTS users about the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map, but neither PLANTS/NPDT, nor the USDA NRCS as a whole, are responsible for this map. The USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map is a product of USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS), with assistance from the PRISM Climate Group at Oregon State University.
