Pruning your home fruit tree

  • Saturday, March 20, 2021, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Pruning should be done annually to keep your tree(s) productive, healthy, and beautiful. This class will cover why, when, and how to prune fruit trees. Attendees will learn where to start and when to stop pruning. There will be ample time to practice on the trees in CCE's on-site orchard in Canton. Safety precautions will be followed, including mask wearing and distancing.

The class will be lead by Erica LaFountain, Community Horticulture Educator at CCE. Erica spent a year bringing a neglected orchard back to production in 2011, then planted her own orchard of 50 apple, pear, and plum trees in the North Country in 2015. Her goal will be to help each class participant to gain knowledge and confidence to take home to their own trees.
