If you like mushrooms, come find out how easy it is to raise your own. It's a fun and inexpensive way to get a year-round, all-natural supply of mushrooms right at home. On Saturday, September 30, join instructor Mike Corse at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Learning Farm in Canton from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM for a class on raising oyster mushrooms, a delicious and nutritious variety that is well-suited for beginners.
Mike Corse owns Pierrepont-based Deep Root Mushroom Farm, which has provided quality, log-grown shiitake and oyster mushrooms to grocery stores and farmers' markets since 2010. In addition to his experience as a producer, Mike has completed a number of formal training programs with nationally-recognized mushroom experts. He has been teaching mushroom cultivation for the past three years.
The cost is $25.00, which includes a “tabletop mushroom farm” kit for each participant. Class size is limited to 12 people, so pre-registration is required. To register, or for more information, please call Paul Hetzler at (315) 379-9192, ext. 232, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
