2018 North Wind 4 Week Animal Science Program

What is this program all about?

Our 4-week Animal Science Program is a special program for those kids who LOVE working and learning about farm animals! This program is for Camper 8 years old and older.

Week 1 July 9th – 13th – Campers will get to meet and learn about all of the animal on the farm. There will be special guests coming in to share their expertise and teach the camper about each of the farm animals.By the end of the week, campers will have the opportunity to work with an animal (Chicken, Sheep, Goat) and show them at the County Fair July 30th – August 3rd in Gouverneur NY (Week 4).Camper will make their own leather bound journal where they will be able to document their experiences throughout the 4 weeks.

Week 2 July 16th – 20th – Campers will learn about Agricultural careers, including the wool industry, dairy goat and cow industry, and the chicken / egg industry.Campers will start to learn how to show their animals, and will make a wood tool kit that they will use at the fair, during Week 4.

Week 3 July 23rd – 27th – Campers will teach the rest of the campers about their animals and what they have learned during the past two weeks. They will make a wood-burned sign with their animal’s name to display at fair. Campers will spend the end of the week preparing for next week’s fair!

Week 4 July 30th – August 3rd – Fair Week! Campers will be transported to and from the County Fair, in Gouverneur NY.The campers will go to the fair to set up their animal’s area, help register their animal, and see the other animals and projects that have been brought to the fair.During this week each camper will show the animal that they chose on week 1 and get judged! One of the days the campers in this program will celebrate their success by enjoying the fair!

The program will run during the following weeks: July 9th – 13th, July 16th – 20th, July 23rd – 27th, July 30th – August 3rd.There will be a fee of $700 for the full 4-week program, this includes all transportation, and supplies for their larger projects.Campers must be able to attend all 4 weeks to enroll in this program. Spaces are limited, so sign up early!
