Spotted-wing drosophila (SWD) has been found in a number of NYS counties

Spotted-wing drosophila (SWD) has been found in a number of NYS counties already, including Saratoga Co. This is a month earlier than 2016, and 2 months earlier than 2015. Based on past years' patterns of spread, it will probably get here in 1-2 weeks. This represents a threat to summer raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and potentially to strawberries as well, depending how fast it travels and reproduces.
