4-H Shooting Sports in St. Lawrence County is a special interest group for youth ages 9-19 interested in shooting sports activities and the conservation of natural resources. Most groups also plan outdoor oriented community service projects, promote habitat improvement, and develop a better understanding of the natural environment. The skills learned in the 4-H shooting sports can be used for a lifetime and are not limited by age, sex, or physical abilities.
New York State (NYS) 4-H Shooting Sports Instructors are certified by NYS 4-H Shooting Sports. Instructors supervise each 4-H Shooting Sports program. Safety is always the primary concern. Youth and adults are trained to know and adhere to the Ten Commandments of firearm safety. Knowledge about firearms and the natural environment is featured as volunteers share years of experience. Skills are developed under the watchful eyes of the instructors.
